Olympic Recap

The Olympics have started bitches!

Yesterday we had the first day of Olympic Hockey, and life couldn't be any better.
Here are some results for ya'll:

Team USA beat the Swiss 3 to 1. USA! USA! USA!

Team Canada beat Norway 8 to 0! CANADA! CANADA! CANADA!

Team Russia beat Latvia 8-2, and we got to see our very own Nabby start! woop woop! I don't particularly care for Team Russia, since I'm all about team Canada and I hate Ovie. BUT, I do want Nabby to do well, so ill  just say NABBY! NABBY! NABBY! :)

Today we will get to see our very own Sharks play against each other, Douglass Murray for team Sweden and Thomas Greiss for Team Germany. Good Luck to both!!!
*update*
Team Sweden beat Team Germany 2-0
Good job Murray, but I left my heart with Team Germany and Greiss. Oh, btw, the first goal should have been taken away for goalie interference, cuz that one guy totally hit Greiss! He was practically on top of him!

The Olympics are getting good, make sure u tune in!
As always, go Sharks! But since they are on different teams now, Lets just say
Go USA! Go Canada! Go Germany! Go Sweden!

Wallin is the newest Shark

After much speculation and talk of deals (then no deals), Niclas Wallin of the Carolina Hurricanes was officially acquired, along with a fifth-round draft pick, in exchange for a second round draft selection in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He made his debut as a Shark in last night's 3-2 victory against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Wallin brings with him veteran experience to the blue line as well as a Stanley Cup ring that he won with Carolina in 2006 (not to mention he will be Murray's fellow Swede). It appears Sharks GM Doug Wilson wanted to add depth to a blue line missing Vlasic. I hope this turns out to be a good trade and that Wallin will make an impact in the Sharks' quest for the Cup!

Speaking of Sweden, the Sharks confirmed they will be one of 6 NHL teams to open their 2010-11 season in Europe! They will be playing the the Columbus Blue Jackets in Stockholm, Sweden, in October.

Murray is very happy about this

Last night's Sharks @ Toronto game featured goals by Boyle, Pavs, and in the 3rd period, Clowe sealed the deal with his goal. Seto assisted on both Pavs' and Clowe's goal, showing he's getting back into the groove again. This game counted as the Sharks' league-best 20th road game, as they continue to sit atop the Western Conference standings.  Next up, the Sharks face the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday and have a rematch with Detroit on Thursday.

Random Odds and Ends

Sorry y'all, but we have been a little busy here and haven't had a chance to update the blog in a while :(
Don't hate us, school has started and we are back to the daily grind, but we are gonna start blogging again, so no worries there!

Some February News:
Sharks lost to the Red Wings 4-2.
Sharks beat the St. Louis Blues 4-2.
We play the Predators on Saturday.

Injuries:
Dan Boyle (upper body), Marc-Edouard Vlasic (lower body) and Manny Malhotra (lower body) are all listed as day-to-day.

 Trade rumors:
Niclas Wallin from the Carolina Hurricanes may be traded to the Sharks, but we don't know who the Sharks will give up for him. The Hurricanes' GM referred to "a young asset" being involved in the exchange; speculation amongst fans brewed around players from Joslin to Huskins to Mitchell to McGinn. If it was Mitchell, my dear friend B would die of sadness and so would Seto. So let's all pray that we don't lose anyone!

Random Things:The Olympics are coming up! If you go on the NBC website, they list when each sport will air, and you can even get them to send you a text before it starts so you don't miss it!

The Sharks will have the most Olympians on their team (8 in total) out of all the NHL, as Patrick Marleau, Joe Thornton, Dany Heatley, and Dan Boyle will all be reppin' for Team Canada. As for the red white and blue, Joe Pavelski will be playing for Team USA. To top it off, Douglas Murray will be on Team Sweden, Nabby will be on Team Russia, and Thomas Greiss will be on Team Germany. So make sure you root for your fave Shark and their respective countries, or for the good ole' boys of Team USA.

Derek Joslin and Jamie McGinn got sent to the baby sharks for now.
Thats all for now, as always
Go Sharks!
